What do all of the Reader count fields mean in my license?

Question

What do all of the Reader count fields mean in my license?

Answer

  1. Maximum Number of Readers for System Type (New to 6.3). If this license bit is missing or -1, the system will treat the maximum number of readers in the system as unlimited.
  2. Maximum Number of Readers (Mercury)
  3. Maximum Number of HID VertX/Edge Readers
where:  2 + 3 <= 1

A separate set of license bits for 2 and 3 above should be provided for Local and Enterprise systems. Maximum Number of Readers for System Type should be assumed to be unlimited for Enterprise.

Allow Lenel Edge readers (controllers) to be added up to the following value in OnGuard:

Maximum Allowed Lenel HID VertX/Edge readers = Total - Reader Count - HID Readers Count, where
- "Total" is Maximum Number of Readers for System Type
- "Reader Count" is actual number of Mercury (etc.) Readers in the system
- "HID Readers Count" is actual number of HID Edge Readers in the system

Note: Offline locks such as Onity and B.A.S.I.S. have independent licenses that are not constrained by the new "Maximum number of readers for system type" value.
