Non-Production Licensing for OnGuard Access and Video


General Information


Non-production license:  A software license is issued for purposes other than the system owners productions OnGuard integrated, access, ID or Video system.  Non-production licenses are classified as DEMO, BLDG-DEMO , Test , EVAL, Training, and, OAAP license requests.  This does not include hot or cold standby servers licenses for Fault tolerant systems.

Demo Dongle [part # SWS-DEMO]:  Software license issued to Lenel sales personnel, product manufacturers or VAR [Value Added Reseller] sales personnel for the purpose of promoting the sale of Lenel products.  Demo Dongles have expiration dates that should coincide with the renewal date of the VAR reseller agreement.  There is no cost to the VAR for Demo dongles.  DEMO dongles CANNOT have feature counts changed, or modified other than to turn on a feature not enabled if switching between versions of software. OnGuard WATCH, CSS, and VSS licenses are available upon request and will need to be indicated on the Request.  We will not enable any of the subscriptions unless indicated on the Request.  [See DEMO License Template]

Building Demo Licenses [part # SWS-BLDG-DEMO]:  This is a license file meant for Value Added Resellers [VAR’s] to run their main building system and demo the software.  1 SWS-BLDG-DEMO per VAR office location.  Base license becomes a SWS-DEMO with all features enabled similar to the SWS-DEMO template.  However the system comes with 64 readers instead of 8 so it is an ADV level DEMO system.  VAR’s can purchase extra licenses or equipment at full price for this system for growth of their building.  Each license has an expiration date tied to the contact renewal date as well.  OnGuard WATCH, CSS, and VSS will be available upon request and will need to be indicated on the Request. (Must have configured OpenAccess in System Administration and must refer to the “Administration Guide for installation Instructions per module). Test System Dongle [part# SWS-TEST]:   Software licenses purchased by a Systems owner for the purpose of product testing of new software releases, features, programming changes, and other variables in a controlled environment so as not to have unexpected adverse conditions effect their live production system.  Test systems have an expiration date tied to that of the production dongle’s support contract expiration date. [For Example, if dongle id 12345 has SUSP expire on 1/20/2030 then the SWS-TEST will have an expiration date of 1/20/2030].  The SWS-TEST licenses are mirror images of actual production systems and are tied to the production system via a licensing description to ensure that any change made to production is made to the TEST system to ensure conditions are realistic comparisons to the live system.  For the cost of the TEST system dongles, please refer to your pricelist.  [Template will be based on Production License]

Evaluation Feature License [part # SWS-EVAL]:  This is a new license file generated for evaluating a software option for the future plan of purchasing such option.  The SWS-EVAL can be requested by any sales personnel and does not require a PO.  These requests can be for additional features to be enabled mirroring a production license or a new license a 90-day period.  This EVAL license cannot be extended passed 90 days without the VP of Sales approval or Product Management, for special circumstances only.  OnGuard WATCH, CSS, and VSS will be available upon request and will need to be indicated on the request (Must have configured OpenAccess in System Administration and must refer to the “Administration Guide for installation Instructions per module). This EVAL license DOES NOT require a quote from Lenel sales personnel, but the Lenel Sales professional must request the EVAL and it can be sent into [email protected] (for US & Canada customers) or forwarded to [email protected] (forEMEA customers)for the Systems Integration Group to generate the license  It is the VAR’s responsibility to uninstall this evaluation file prior to the end of the evaluation period. This DOES NOT require a quote from Lenel sales personnel (Inside Sales, FSE, RSM) but has to be requested by a Lenel Sales professional.  There are currently 3 options we do not allow on EVAL systems due to their possible exploitation. They are SWG-1140, SWG-1225 and SWG-1210. [Template will be based on Production License]

OEM System Dongle [part# SWS-OEM]:   Software license issued to partners only for the purpose of product evaluation and/or testing of new software releases, features, programming changes, and other variables in a controlled environment.  OEM system dongles expire after 1 year but can be set to not expire based on the partner.  These are self-renewing license files annually. There are support plans for this type of system license. There is no cost for an OEM business partner but must be approved by the any member of the Executive Staff or Product Management.

Training Dongle [part # TR100]: Software license issued to students attending Lenel Learning Solutions classes for the purpose of continuing the student is learning experience after completing course work.  Training dongles have expiration dates that should coincide with the 1-year anniversary of the course completion.  This is to include the SWM-Modules on the OnGuard license and OnGuard WATCH, CSS, and VSS will be available upon request (Must have configured OpenAccess in System Administration and must refer to the “Administration Guide for installation Instructions per module).  Training Dongles do not have SUSP contracts.  [See Training License Template]

OAAP Dongle [part # OAAP-EXTRA-DONGLE or OAAP-ENROLLMENT-KIT]:  Software license required by OpenAccess Alliance Program (OAAP) partners in order to develop integration of their product/s with OnGuard/LNVR software.  This license enables the partners to develop and test their product/s integration/s with OnGuard.  The licenses carry no support contracts. There is a contract with the OAAP partner, which outlines the support they receive from Lenel. The licenses enable use with all OnGuard’s APIs. It is very limited with respect to number of devices (16 readers, 16 LNVR and LDVR channels, a fire/intrusion/elevator/intercom panels, etc).  

The license expiration date is 6-9 months from the issue date. The expiration date is always end of a quarter – 12/31, 3/31, 6/30, 9/30. Licenses are extended per request from the partners. The extension is for 6 moths plus the time till the end of the quarter. For example is the request came in at 2/10/2014, the extension will be for 9/30/2014.

OAAP licenses creation, modifications, and extensions require approval from the OAAP team.

PRISM Licenses

Prism can be put into a Demo mode by clicking on the “Cancel” button during the License Registration process of installation.  This will be limited to One Management Server, One Video matrix, and Four Camera streams.  If OnGuard Integration and more than four camera channels are required, please contact the RSM in the area for them to generate a $0 PO for what they need in Prism.  In the EMEA Region, Prism Temporary license can be requested directly by VAR without the PO or quotation through the proper form at http://bputc.com/ website

VSC Licenses
By default VSC will run in Demo mode after installation. This will be limited to One Application Server, One Client, One MultiVision, and Eight Camera streams.  No OnGuard integration available at this moment.  If more than eight camera channels are required, please contact the RSM in the area for them to generate a $0 PO for what they need in VSC.
