Video Artifacts with RTP over UDP with Some Bitrate/Resolution Combinations

Problem Overview

Video Artifacts with RTP over UDP with Some Bitrate/Resolution Combinations

Detailed Description

When using cameras with RTP over UDP, artifacts may occur in the final image. This is due to the fact that UDP is a transmission without acknowledgement protocol and could have loss of packets during transmission in busy networks. This becomes more obvious when the video is bigger (for example, in the case of transmission of larger bitrates and resolutions). RTP over TCP/IP or RTP over RTSP over HTTP may be a better option with cameras that support them because they are more reliable and do not present this issue.
