How to determine the SQL service pack level on SQL Server 2000 or MSDE

Procedure Steps

To determine which version of SQL Server 2000/MSDE the customer is running:

1) Open Control Panel and select Add or Remove Programs.

2) Select 
Microsoft SQL Server from the list.

3) Click the link: Click here for support information. You will see a build number such as 8.00.xxx or 8.00.xxxx.
-If the build number ends in four digits the customer has Service Pack 4.
-If the build number is 8.00.760 then they have Service Pack 3.
-If the build number ends in any other 3 digit number then Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 are installed and will need to be upgraded.
