After configuring Database Archiving, errors generate from Setup Assistant and Database Setup

Symptom

When running Setup Assistant or Database Setup after configuring database archiving in System Administration, various errors are generated preventing the creation of the database tables. This is due to the application.config file being corrupted. From Setup Assistant, the following warning was encountered:

Database version checking is turned off, therefore your database will not be upgraded. Turn on version checking and run Database Setup by selecting Service and Support > Database Setup from the Start menu. From Database Setup, the following warning was encountered:

Cannot read SchemaRepository connection string from the DatabaseSetup.exe.config file.

Resolution

  1.  Find the application.config file in C:\ProgramData\Lnl.
  2. Copy the application.config file from the installation media, in the CommonAppData\Lnl folder, or copy the file from a working system.
  3. Replace the existing application.config file located in the C:\ProgramData\Lnl folder.
  4. Open the file and update the connection string data copied from the original file, and then save the change.
  5. Open Configuration Editor and select application.config from the database drop-down, and then save the change.
  6. Run Database Setup or Setup Assistant again. The application should run normally.
