Symptom

The 3rd Party OPC Server appears offline in Alarm Monitoring due to improper DCOM permissions

Resolution

Note: This resolution assumes that the 3rd party OPC server is set up properly in System Administration and successfully passes the connection test.

To adjust the DCOM settings:

1) Open dcomcnfg and go to the Default Properties tab

2) Verify Enable Distributed COM on this computer is selected.

3) Set the Default Authentication Level to "None" and set the Default Impersonation Level to "Impersonate."

4) Click [Apply].

5) Select the COM Security tab.

6) In the Launch and Activation Permissions section, click [Edit Limits].

7) Select the Anonymous Login user and then place a check mark in the Allow column for Local Launch, Remote Launch, Local Activation, and Remote Activation.

8) Click [Apply], then [OK], and close the dcomcnfg utility.

9) Restart the LS Communication Server service. The OPC server should now appear online in Alarm Monitoring.
