Error message when running maintenance plan in SQL 2008

When you create and then execute a maintenance plan, you receive an error message similar to the following in the job history, and the plan will not run:
 
SQL Server Scheduled Job 'CSQL.Subplan_1'  - Status: Failed - Invoked on: 20xx-xx-xx 17:41:15 - Message: The job failed. The Job was invoked by User ' '\administrator. The last step to run was step 1.

 

The SQL Server Execute Package Utility requires Integration Services to be installed. To install Integration Services, run SQL Server Setup and then select Integration Services.
