When a LenelS2 Node disconnects, are the activities that occur while offline permanently stored on the node until it reconnects to the NC?

Description:

When a Netbox node disconnects, are the activities that occur while offline permanently stored on the node until it reconnects to the NC?

Resolution:

Activities recorded by nodes while offline are kept in a buffer/cache.  1st generation nodes (CBM, MicroNodes) have a buffer that can retain up to 20,000 activity records.  2nd generation nodes (M1-3200, MicroNode Plus) have a buffer of 100,000 activity records.

The nodes will write new activities to its buffer while in a disconnected state from the controller.  Once reconnected to the controller it will dump all activities stored in the buffer to the NetBox controller which will then get recorded into the NetBox controller database at the time it was received by the controller.  Not the time in which it happened on the node.  Note that reports against these activities will have to be run based on the date/time the activities were received by the NetBox controller.

If the node is disconnected from the NetBox controller for a period of time long enough for its buffer to exceed its maximum size, the buffer will then delete the oldest stored activity to make space for the newest activity using FIFO (First In, First Out).
