LNL-1300-S3B Reader not communicating or sending correct information

Symptom

There may be certain rare instances where readers may exhibit issues reporting data over D0 on a LNL-1300-S3 (B variant). This is due to lower than normal voltages seen across D0/GND.

Resolution

While the majority of reader manufacturers are not impacted by this, it is recommended to bring the voltage across D0/GND up to 5 volts. This can be accomplished by installing a 2.2 KΩ resistor between the VIN and D0.  Verify voltage reported is 5 volts and if greater adjust resistor to lower and/or contact LenelS2 support for additional information.

Applies To

Currently reader model EA-P4-501 manufactured by SouthCo is reported as having this issue. Should additional models be reported, this KB article will be updated as well.

Additional Information

While understanding this only impacts a handful of known readers, we are committed to make an adjustment in future models that will not require this additional resistor.
