How to import the TWIC Privacy Key from a TWIC card

How to import the TWIC Privacy Key from a TWIC card

Procedure Steps

OnGuard 2008 Plus (version 6.1.222) introduced the ability to import data from US Government Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card data into OnGuard using a PC/SC smart card reader.

It can also import the TWIC Privacy Key (TPK) from the card. The TPK is not currently used by OnGuard, but can be stored in the database for possible future use with TWIC biometric readers.

Follow the steps below to import the TPK from a TWIC card.

1) In System Administration, from the Administration menu, select Cardholder Options.

2) On the General Cardholder Options tab, click [Modify].

3) Select the Import fingerprints from card into database check box.

4) Click [OK] to save the change.

Configure this setting prior to importing data from cardholders TWIC cards. This will eliminate the need to perform a second import at a later date to load the TPK.

Note that OnGuard 2009 (version 6.3.249) does not require this setting to be selected to import the TPK.
